I like Leprechaun Days because ...

The Rosemount Leprechaun Days Committtee recently asked several people around Rosemount to complete the thought: "I like Leprechaun Days because ..."

We hope this exercise will get you thinking about why you like Leprechaun Days and contribute your message to the conversation.

Leprechaun Days is an important part of the fabric of Rosemount. More than three-quarters of Rosemount residents say they participate in Leprechaun Days in some way. What greater reason for others to participate, get involved by volunteering or give a financial contribution to make the festival the best it can be.

"I like Rosemount Leprechaun Days because of the way it brings neighbors and all our community together. There's music for all tastes, and we can visit exhibits from Rosemount's growing arts scene. Children can stay busy with events intended for them almost every one of the ten days. We can cheer our friends marching in the parade and watch a dazzling fireworks display without going far from home. And I really appreciate that it's all organized by our local volunteers, another way that our citizens create the great quality of life that makes Rosemount a top destination during Leprechaun Days – and every other day, too."

– Mayor William H. Droste
"I like Rosemount Leprechaun Days because it's an old-fashioned kind of celebration. There's a great parade and during the week there are a variety of free activities for kids. The Midsummer Faire is a lot of fun and has free performances by popular bands and lots of yummy food such as New Zealand meat pies and pork chops-on-a-stick. Everybody loves the spectacular fireworks show on the last Saturday of Leprechaun Days, too. Leprechaun Days just seems to offer something for everyone of every age!"

What is there not to like about Leprechaun Days. Ten days of fun for the entire family, there is always something going on. There is excitment in the air, the town looks beautiful (thanks to the wonderful city crews). Rosemount is dressed up and ready to enjoy good food, music, activities and oh yes, the fireworks. It is always a great feeling being down at Central Park during the fireworks, when all the activity quiets down except for the sound of exploding, bursts of color and then hearing the crowd clapping and cheering at the end of the fireworks. And who doesn't get goosebumps and feel proud when the Rosemount High School band, athletic teams, cheerleaders etc. pass by during the parade. It's great, after a full day of activities seeing families walking back home, or to their cars with sleeping children, tired from all the day's festivities. So, in summary, what I like best of Leprechaun Days is the great feeling one has of being part of this wonderful celebration and community."

"For me, being the president of Leprechaun Days, I love to create and organize a team of volunteers that has fun organizing the 10-day festival that in return puts big smiling faces on people. That all happens because of our volunteers. We always welcome new volunteers to help make Leprechaun Days the best it can be."
Steve Ball, Rosemount Leprechaun Days Committee president
